Dean Hunter-Cutrona Mixes Media to Reach Local Patrons of the Arts

September 24, 2004, Greenwich, CT: The art of Dean Hunter-Cutrona is set to debut on the big screen at the Greenwich Crown Plaza Theatre on October 1, 2004. In a breakthrough marketing move, Hunter-Cutrona bypasses local galleries and champagne receptions to bring his masterpieces directly to local art lovers.

–We've never had an on-screen ad devoted to an artist's work before. It's a brilliant way to reach an audience in a very receptive and relaxed setting,” said Zvi Cole, VP of Marketing for Crown Plaza Theatres. –Dean's paintings are formidable in stature and the canvas of the cinema shows them off beautifully.”

Three of Dean Hunter-Cutrona's works will be featured in more than 315 viewings per week to more than 3,000 moviegoers during this initial campaign. The Butterfly Assassin is a seven-foot tall, fully pose-able sculpture depicting a robot in fantastically painted armor. The Buddha and the Dragon is an exquisitely carved vintage skateboard. A painting called The Act of Being Free in One Act features a riderless horse and is Hunter-Cutrona's masterpiece. The artist explains that an earlier version of the piece had a rider on the horse. The rider was painted out of the picture so that the horse could be truly free.

"Dean is one of the freshest, most exciting artists we've ever had in our gallery," said Melissa McCaig-Welles, Gallery Director for the McCaig-Welles Gallery. "This is the first time I've heard of any artist doing something like this. It figures that Dean would be the first to try it."

Dean Hunter-Cutrona's work was recently featured in a one-man-show at the McCaig-Welles Gallery in Brooklyn, NY. He resides in Green Point, Brooklyn and in Monroe, Connecticut. He has studied at the Art Institute of Boston, The Massachusetts College of Art, and the School of the Museum of Fine Art.
